Vladimír Špidla served as Prime Minister of the Czech Republic and as European Commissioner for Employment, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities. He is currently president of Czech social democratic think-tank Masaryk Democratic Academy and member of the Circle of Friends of Das Progressive Zentrum.
