Jenny Simon is Head of Division for the Social Dimension of Climate and Environmental Policy at the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs (BMAS). She completed her doctorate at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) under Daron Acemoglu and Ivan Werning on the interaction between the market and the state. After working as a Max Weber Fellow at the European University Institute in Florence and as an assistant professor at the Stockholm Institute of Transition Economics, she joined the BMAS in 2017. Her areas of expertise include public economics, particularly fiscal policy, distribution analyses and the social design of transformation processes. Jenny Simon is a policy fellow at Das Progressive Zentrum.
