Why restrictions are being lifted too fast for some and not fast enough for others"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-1 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:75%\">\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"zusammenfassung\">Summary<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Trust matters more than self-interest: Our survey conducted among roughly 4,800 participants in April and May 2020 shows that the discussion about easing restrictions is not so much about the varying degrees to which individuals are affected, but rather about the degree of trust in public institutions in general.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Winning support for Corona rules<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The measures to control the coronavirus have led to widespread restrictions for different parts of society. Main political actors have made&nbsp;<strong>appeals for solidarity to win support for the corona restrictions<\/strong>. In Germany, numerous financial compensation measures have been issued, such as the so-called \u201cchild bonus\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, the present study raises doubt on whether such instruments increase support for restrictive measures. After all,&nbsp;<strong>feeling threatened by the restrictions<\/strong>&nbsp;either economically or regarding one\u00b4s family hardly has any influence on the (dis-)approval of rules that aim at containing the spread of the virus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Main findings<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Respondents believe the restrictions will have a much more serious&nbsp;<strong>impact on society at large<\/strong>&nbsp;than on their personal circumstances.
