Since they play such an important role in Europe and for connecting people, Das Progressive Zentrum felt like it was important to give them both a role at the Daring New Spaces Summit on the European Public Sphere.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jakobe Mansztajn is a renowned poet from Poland. He wrote a poem solely for the Daring New Spaces Summit, called \u201eEuropa, Europa\u201c.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He describes the poem as&nbsp;\u201eIt\u2019s about the longing of Polish people for Europe and is told through a prism of Richard Linklater\u2019s movie&nbsp;<em>Before Sunrise<\/em>\u201c<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/tuesdayacademic.wordpress.com\/aboutme\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Tul\u2019si Bhambry<\/a>,\u200b who is a professional translator specialised in literature and poetry translated the poem for us into English. Tul\u2019si lived our vision for translation, by watching the movie&nbsp;<em>Before Sunrise&nbsp;<\/em>to understand the context of the words.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The poem has been divided up into six different parts that participants heard Jakobe read throughout the Summit. To the left,&nbsp;buildings freshly<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>scaffolded<strong>,<\/strong>&nbsp;to the right an old church, tightly<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>guarded by homeless people sleeping. And wandering<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>through empty backstreets, through crowded<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>squares, parks, a cemetery, sitting in a gondola<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>of the Ferris wheel in Leopoldstadt<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>and in an empty Gothic cathedral, listening to<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kath Bloom\u2019s \u201cCome here\u201d in the tiny booth<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>of a record shop \u2013 they\u2019ll find out that Vienna is not just<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Vienna anymore, it\u2019s their shared sunrise and sunset,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>their shared east and west, to the left<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>the world, to the right emptiness.
