Nico Zillekens has been an intern in the programme areas International Dialogue and Future of Democracy since July 2020 and is particularly involved in the European Hub for Civic Engagement. He studied in the Bachelor - supported by the Franco-German University and the Heinrich Böll Foundation - International and European Governance at the Institut d'Études Politiques in Lille (Sciences Po Lille) and at the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität in Münster. His interests include foreign, development and asylum policy as well as International & European Studies. Following on from this, he wrote his bachelor's thesis on representation of interests in the European Union using the case study of the chemical industry. In addition to his first experiences in the political field, Nico is passionately committed to the European idea outside of his studies, among others in the European Solidarity Corps and the European Comenius Project as well as in a binational university group. Furthermore, he is involved in refugee aid and green party politics.
