Franziska Wessel joined the Future of Democracy department as an intern in January 2021 until April 2021. She majored in Political Sciences with a focus on Political Theory at Leipzig University. Her bachelor’s thesis examined the compatibility of plural identities and liberal universalism in democracies. Next to her studies she engages in the topic of multi-discrimination and systematic inequality. During her studies she worked for Schwarzkopf Stiftung Junges Europa where she instructed pupils in European integration and media competence. Her passion for daily world affairs led her to an internship at Hessisch-Niedersächische Allgemeine Zeitung and working as a freelance reporter for the Göttinger Tageblatt. Lastly, she completed an internship in the staff office of Anja Stahmann (Grüne), the Senator for Social Affairs of Bremen.
