On Tuesday, 28 November 2017, the Innocracy – Conference on Democratic Innovation will take place at betahaus in Berlin. During the one-day conference, an international community of innovators, experts, academics, and politicians will discuss and share ideas on how to innovate and revive our democracy.

We are in a phase of systemic transition: from the post-war understanding of what a democracy is, and how it works, towards a different, deeper democracy. Our conference seeks to openly explore what the next steps for the remaking of democracy could be. In around 20 sessions, we will explore three interconnected levels: new ideas and mental models; the remaking of structures; and the re-designing of processes.

During the day, speakers and session hosts from more than 10 countries will share their insights and expertise. The objective of the conference is to discuss how our democracies can adapt to changes and respond to socio-economic, cultural, technological and ecological transformations. Maja Göpel, Secretary General of the German Advisory Council on Global Change, will open the conference with a keynote speech.

The conference is organised by the Democracy Lab, of the independent and Berlin-based think tank Das Progressive Zentrum in the context of the project „Democracy 2025 – Democratic innovations for a changing society“. The Democracy Lab offers a space for creative, interdisciplinary and international exchange on the topic of democratic innovation.
