Our Approach

The Progressive Centre brings together key actors from the fields of research, media, business and politics. Our working method includes:

• Aggregating knowledge.
  

  The Progressive Zentrum constantly prospects scientific findings and processes them concisely.

• Conducting research.
  

  The Progressive Zentrum collaborates extensively with other third-party institutions, researchers and networks. The aim is to produce independent research, a process that is governed by an academic advisory council which consults us constantly, and achieved through assigned research contracts that obtain independent findings.

• Communicating results.
  

  The Progressive Zentrum invigorates exchange among progressive intellectuals, politicians and business representatives, with the purpose of achieving concrete political results. The outcomes of these discussions will be made publicly available; they contribute to reaching concrete political results.

  A Progressive Agenda for the 21st Century

  Today we are witnessing fundamental changes in the economy and the labour market, in technology and the environment, as well as increasing individualism and the breakdown of traditional institutions. These developments go hand in hand with ever more complex interdependencies on a global scale.

  A strategy to address these changes must be multifaceted and robust enough to cope with the many challenges posed by change: the role of, and allocation of resources between state and market; the legitimacy of democratic processes and institutions; the stress ratio between protecting and overcoming obsolete industrial structures; the off-shoring and outsourcing of labour; the dynamics of an ageing society; the key challenges of modern national identity and multiculturalism; growing political alienation and apathy; the support for children in our society and the compatibility of family and job; sustainable environmental and energy policy – and so forth.

  We want to face these challenges by clearly formulating the values, principles and concepts of future-oriented progressive politics/policies for Germany. Therefore a new agenda with new topics, issues and views needs to be set; conventional concepts and assumptions must be challenged.
