Fortschritt jetzt! - Progress now! A guide to progressive ideas of our times

The economic and financial crisis once again demonstrated what had been evident before: the 21st century brings along challenges for Europe and the world which can in no time be met with the past century’s instruments. What we need are new thoughts and new ideas so as to create a policy of economic, social and ecological progress.

Going along with the federal elections of the German Bundestag, the Progressive Zentrum published a programmatic volume containing concise short essays by renowned German and international thinkers. Our book is meant to give a first impetus to a new progressive debate that is urgently needed.

Our book is meant to give impetus to the overdue progressive debate in Germany. The Centre-Left, the former point of origin of influential societal, economical and ecological reform projects has to reinvent itself. The authors of “Progress Now!” lay the foundations of the progressive renewal by developing tangible policy recommendations which they derive from the confrontation of ideas of social fairness and participation with the reality of globalisation and the financial crisis.

We understand the book as an invitation to participate in the debates we will inevitably have to hold over years to come.
